PITCHER TOTE 345.00 GBP

Pitcher Tote, made from soft undyed cotton Molleton, custom developed by Tender Co, bonded to deadstock ex US Military ballistic nylon.

The bag takes its name from the Nepenthes plant whose jug-like form - the pitcher - opens out with a rounded belly to form a wide cavity which the plant uses to lay a carniverous trap. The Pitcher Tote design repurposes this hollow space for further storage, with its shape constructed using just two seams and four darts. The white inner lining illuminates the bags stomach, providing almost artificial brightness inside. Taking a cue from 1950's military radio bags made of sheepskin or cow hide, the muffled interior provides a cushioned shield from the outside world.

The bag can be used multiple ways, fastened by zipper or popstud, and carried by adjustable shoulder or hand strap, or removable cross body strap. The top zip pouch is attached to the main body of the bag by eyelets, so objects such as scarves, gloves or even a newspaper can be slid underneath.

The bag uses marine and military grade steel fittings, with minimal moving parts, Lampo Coil Zips and heavyweight cotton webbing. All panels are laser cut.

Due to the artisanal nature of the material, there is some inconsistency in the puckering across the surface of the fabric, which is a result of shrinkage in the cotton when heat is applied during the bonding process. This puckering is evenly spread across the entire production run and each piece is unique.

For use with the removable, packable water resistant tote cover, sold separately.
